Model United Nations (MUN) puts students in the shoes of diplomats, as they research, strategize, debate, negotiate, make speeches, and do their best to represent their country’s interests while facing pressing issues of international relations importance. It is a global activity recognized by the UN itself.
The Model UN framework provides a system of rules that facilitate the debate of controversial topics in a respectful manner, in ways that unfortunately are almost without parallel. The goal is to come away with the research, analytical, negotiation and linguistic skills to excel in debates on even the most sensitive issues, while maintaining respect and understanding for those with whom you disagree.
